During one of our Double Rafter Cattle Drives in June of 1995, we were running the extra horses and mules 12 miles to the next camp.  The mules stopped, looked, and then jumped this cattle guard.  "Splash", who never was an athlete, tried to jump it but landed squarely in the middle of it.  That is me in the white hat preparing to anesthetize him so we could manipulate his feet out of the cattle guard.  We were successful and the hose was named "Splat" from then on.
