Counting Coup

Counting Coup

I reluctantly entered the political arena in the winter of 2006 and experienced legislators advised me to moderate my views, just smile and wave a lot. That made me feel like I was running for rodeo queen, so instead, I began this column stating my Christian, conservative, beliefs in a manner readers might find entertaining and informative. On election night, I was trailing by a couple hundred votes but suddenly the counting stopped as if a urinal overflowed, and the courthouse had to be evacuated. At four o clock the next morning, new election results were posted suggesting I had won by 14. Over the next few days, additional votes trickled in which trimmed my victory from 14 to 10 to 4 to a dead even tie. A hand recount was scheduled three weeks post-election, the outcome dictating the control of the Montana House.

The recount is conducted by the three county commissioners, plus each candidate was allowed two seats at the table. My opponent chose the chairman of the State Democrat Party plus their legal counsel while I chose this veterinarian and his trophy wife. Procedurally, a commissioner would examine and verbally announce a ballot s decision and place votes for me in one stack and votes for my opponent in another. Here is where the trophy wife earned her seat at the table. Purely by accident, the commissioner read Kerns aloud but placed the ballot in the Eaton stack. Druann caught it. Upon completing a precinct, the commissioners counted each stack before allowing each candidate s representative to count each stack. If our count agreed, we continued to the next precinct.

This arduous task dragged on for four hours. Ultimately, we found one precinct showing three fewer votes for my opponent than what had been published. A frantic search was launched for the missing votes before deciding three damaged ballots rejected for improper marks in other races had been duplicated and then re-run through the counter without erasing the first count. Do you follow?

I emerged with a three-vote victory feeling confident we could recount the paper ballots every day for perpetuity and the results would not change. However, after watching Dinesh D Souza s 2000 Mules, An Election Fraud Documentary my confidence in election integrity has vaporized. Counting procedure may be accurate but without knowing whether the ballots were cast legally the results are meaningless. The 2020 election installing Joe Biden as president is a fraud along with all the evil appointments, decrees, actions, and orders he has propagated since stealing power. This was a treasonous coup and must be dealt with as such.
