Fifteen Minutes

Weekly Posting of the Conservative Cow Doctor

Fifteen Minutes

Decades back, when building our first home, Tyler, my youngest, spent every day bending nails and shoveling dirt around the home site. In September, when he was to return to the babysitter, things became problematic. After being mostly feral for three months, the idea of submitting to daycare rules was inked off Tyler’s to-do list. Within fifteen minutes of being dropped off, Tyler was over the fence and trotting home. We tried all the trendy tips endorsed by adolescent psychologists who do not have children, but we were always one step behind. One October morning, two hours before departure, Tyler was sobbing uncontrollably anticipating another trek to daycare. I snapped. Life should be simple when you are four, so he became my ride-along vet assistant, and this began the best three years of my life as a cow doctor in Montana.

Back then, ambulatory calls were a big part of my practice, so we raced from ranch to ranch down country roads. Letting Tyler run free while I was fixing a prolapse was like turning a blue heeler loose in a chicken coop, but we managed. I mention this because every time we left a new place, Tyler would ask, “Where do these people buy their groceries?” Because we took the back roads, some places were not as far out in the sticks as they appeared, but Tyler seemed focused on the distance to the grocery store, and today, his repetitive question has become prophetic.

A new residential model is being toyed with in Europe, one which is soon coming to America, and it addresses Tyler’s concern for the distance to grocery stores. As part of the Marxist green agenda, communities are being designed where communist housing units are all a fifteen-minute walk from grocery stores, medical clinics, restaurants, and retail outlets. Lovingly termed 15-Minute Cities, such zoning is championed as saving the planet by keeping the little people off the road. If you prefer a restaurant in a neighboring 15-Minute Community, you must first obtain a government approved QR travel code to get there. If you believe this could never happen in a country founded on liberty and limited government, I trust you passed your first test in resisting America’s subtle descent into tyranny. If you view submitting to the government’s unsafe and ineffective Covid gene therapy injection as a sign of virtue, you failed your first freedom test. Your obedience is already on record so the pretty people expect you will do exactly as you are told once they lock you in your 15-Minute City. It is coming and most will not resist.
