Privilege

In 1887, my great-great grandparents, Tom and Millie Powers, homesteaded about a half-mile down East Pass Creek from the soon-to-be town of Slack, Wyoming. In 1932, a school was built a bit north of the original townsite and it still serves the community. I mention this because every time I voted to shrink government in the Montana legislature, progressives labeled me as being a rich Republican who lived a privileged childhood. I chuckled because my privileged upbringing was being raised as a country kid and educated in the classic one-room country school. Better than just building me, I have been able to pass this generational privilege onto four of my grandkids who enrolled in Slack School last week. Slack has 11 human students plus Badger, a border collie mix, who sleeps on a dog bed in the main room. Here is a snapshot of their first week at Slack.

Conor, my six-year-old grandson, came home with bleeding rope burns around his ankles from a team roping game involving other ranch kids of similar age. To lessen the incidence of rope burns, it is now against the rules to dally. I am confused as to what they are dallying to, but they run a tight ship at Slack and rules are rules.

To satisfy physical education requirements during one hot afternoon, the entire school hiked down to the swimming hole on our place. The creek is mountain run-off, so it is cold. The trick is to cannonball off the bank into the deepest part of the hole and scramble back to the bank without ever really getting wet. It sounds impossible, but agile skinny kids can do it, and this brings me to my point.

For progressives to destroy America they must first destroy the American family including the one-room school experience. Collectivism and dependency simply cannot be championed in a country founded on faith, family and freedom. The communists removed God from schools in 1962, began replacing fathers with government programs shortly thereafter, and eventually used government power to suspend the natural rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. When you hear a college biology graduate declare there are 72 genders or explain how tax policy can control the climate you know they have never rope burned their friends or cannonballed into a frigid creek. They lack the privilege of common sense and are indoctrinated into mistakenly believing they are the smartest people in the room.
