Salesmanship

Years back, trader Al had sold all his saddles when a potential customer rang Sunday morning.  Disappointed at opportunity lost, Al spotted a second classifies ad listing two saddles for sale. He called, closed the deal, then called the previously rejected saddle hunters saying he had found two saddles.  Planning to meet at the truck stop, Al hustled to Billings, bought the saddles, zipped to the truck stop and artfully positioned the merchandise under the open hatchback of his minivan.  The buyers arrived, kicked the saddle fenders, and asked, “Have you owned these saddles very long?”

“Oh, a little while,” Al nonchalantly replied.

“That’s funny, because we looked at these same saddles a couple hours ago on the west end.”

Al slammed the hatch back and declared, “the deal is off.” While driving home Al spotted a “For Sale” sign on a farm truck parked alongside the road.  He stopped, kicked the fenders, spoke to the farmer, agreed on a price, and then asked if the farmer needed a couple saddles.  The farmer said yes, so they negotiated a new cash-plus-saddles price, a handshake closed the deal and Al left the saddles planning to finish the title work on Monday.

Enroute home, Al stopped for coffee at Bob and Mary’s and casually mentioned the new farm truck he had for sale.   After coffee talk, Bob’s son, Rod, bought the truck.  On that single Sunday morning Al bought two saddles, sold two saddles, bought a farm truck, sold a farm truck, and sweetened the pot with every transaction.  Al was a master salesman and over the years, he sold me three horses, several saddles, miscellaneous tack, a tack shed and a squeeze chute. These were all things I needed, and the transactions were completely voluntary.  Trading something of value for another thing of value means both the buyer and seller share a similar opinion of something’s worth and this brings me to my point.

Free market transactions, buying what others are offering, gets twisted when the ruling class mandates the unwashed purchase or accept a product or service they do not want.  When a politician promotes an idea ask yourself how they will benefit if you believe what they are selling. Big pharma, the CDC, the NIH, the FDA, and Dr. Fauci are getting rich by the ruling class mandating the poke…and now you need a third booster. President Biden, his minions, his handlers, the Taliban, and the Chinese Communist Party, garnered power by mandating you buy the pandemic lie that in-person voting was too dangerous. Can you not see you are being sold into serfdom?
