Stumbling Through the Dark

One of these days I will suffer a bad crash navigating from my bedroom to the coffee pot and back without turning on the lights. Wednesday morning, I had to reconnoiter around an errant clutch purse, crumbled cocktail dress, one pair of panties and Blinker. If I were to replace the Australian Shepherd with an empty champagne bottle and a couple glasses, it would have made a picturesque, morning-after Hollywood love scene. The reality is not as it appeared. A handful of grandkids are visiting and two of the granddaughters like to try on their Nanna s dresses and high heels before stripping into their bathing suits and hitting the hot tub. The rule about putting stuff away before going to bed has never stuck, so there are clothes strung everywhere.

Trying on old-people s clothes seems to be a sex-linked characteristic found mostly in girls. I remember occasionally seeing my boots wander off on one of the grandsons, but they rarely made it out of sight. Their kleptomania problem develops later in life when their focus is drawn to tools. I could search through the brush patch behind the barn and fill a wheelbarrow with hammers, hatchets, shovels, and saws. Like a cocktail dress or a clutch purse, these tools will lay where they are dropped until they are absorbed by the earth.

When a grandchild comes along who is more of a collector than a scatterer, they can become rich peddling the discards of their siblings. God bless capitalism. I only have 19 grandkids so perhaps the collector and marketer is yet to come, and this brings me to my point. The best thing a freedom loving Christian can do to ensure prosperity to their posterity is to have more children and encourage them to do the same. It is faith, family and freedom which has made our families great and therefore, our nation great. However, it appears we have forgotten that God placed man at the head of the family to purposely lead them back to Him. So many leftist isms have obscured His truth and as such, America has tripped over something in the dark.
