The Wreck on the Horizon

Here are some tidbits my profession has taught me: People often move to their five-acre spread in a subdivision and then decide to fatten a couple grass calves. With no corral or squeeze chute, they back their buddy’s trailer up to their pasture, jerk the gate open and the steers leap out to never be caught again. To avoid the feral cattle problem, I suggest they go the sheep or goat route. They may not grill as tasty as beef but at least you can handle them without corrals, a horse, or a cowboy. This happens all the time.

Here is another developing trainwreck. Owners of ill-mannered, out of control large breed dogs use a harness rather than a collar because the dog “pulls so hard against the leash.” They never consider how a soft harness encourages pulling behavior. A choker collar at least gives a slight-built owner a chance to diminish the lunges of their Great Dane. Better yet is a dog halter where the leash attaches under their chin. Instantly, a 100-pound owner can force their 150-pound Lab to face them with little more than index finger pressure. It’s called a Halti and half the people who walk into my clinic should have one. They don’t, so it is just a matter of time before a big dog jerks a little person into the hospital. Now to my last dog point.

Under no circumstances should you ever adopt littermates. They will attach strongly to each other but will forever view their human as a dog food dispensing device. Trainers claim dogs must leave the litter at 49 days of age to properly bond to their new master. If you adopt part of the litter, they maintain a litter mentality. This exceptionally sound advice is always ignored because puppies are cuter than wisdom, and this brings me to my final point.

“Scientists Develop Atmospheric Covid 19 Test” was a Weather Channel headline which recently popped up on my smartphone. Astute scientists know “Covid 19” is the magic word which garners government funding, so it has replaced climate change as the ticket to the taxpayer treasury. I suspect the same scientists who brought us the unreliable Covid PCR test are behind the atmospheric test and here is what I see coming: When conservative politicians begin staging massive, patriotic rallies threatening the power of the ruling class, public health police will disperse the crowd due to the detection of imaginary airborne Covid-19. Antifa riots will be unhindered. Tyranny cannot function without obedience but sadly, America has become more a mask up, social distance and roll up your sleeve society than one which embraces Live Free or Die.
