Poverty As A Career Choice

The liberal left has yet to find a social problem in this country that cannot be solved by simply taking money from those who have earned it, and giving it to those who haven’t.   (Of course, less a small 85% handling fee to cover the cost of administering their solution.)  Many socio-economically disadvantaged voters fall prey to this line of thinking, and dutifully vote themselves a pay raise at each election.  Here is the nasty secret:  The poor are just as poor now as they were when President Johnson created the “Great Society” plan in the 60’s.  They are permanently enslaved by the very people who are pretending to help them.

Need proof?  Take a hard look at the election results over the past forty years.  The reservations of Montana and Wyoming, and the ghettos of the largest cities in the United States are consistently “blue county” voters.  They suffer in poverty and yet vote for the candidates who offer programs to keep them there.  Is that not insane?  Doing the same thing over and over again……but expecting different results.

I grew up on the southern border of the Crow Reservation.  I have seen first hand what happens when people are given everything.  They are robbed of the privilege of being responsible for themselves.  The government becomes their Daddy.  What a rotten way to live.

The solution to the plight of the poor is not universal health care, it is not energy-share assistance programs, it is not food stamps, it is not government funded child care, it is LUGGAGE.  That’s right, the poor need luggage.   If you are not making it where you are, then get the hell out!  Make something of your life!  Don’t beg Daddy for another handout!  Pack up what you need, and go where you can make it.  Because you can!

I see enormous opportunity through out Montana.  The construction industry is booming.  The oil and energy fields are booming.  Coal bed methane development is on the horizon.  Now is the time to free yourself from the plantation.  Pull a Kunta Kinte, and run away.

In the 90’s I watched the Los Angeles riots, and then this fall stared at the havoc of Katrina.  I stood in silent disbelief.  Why would any human being allow their family to live like that?  Don’t these people know they are free?  Gather up the possessions you need and get out.  Walk if you have to.  Run if you need to.  But, why stay where the leaders you elected want to imprison you?

            Do you need luggage?
