A Peak at Liberalism

Unbridled liberalism is more dangerous than playing tag with a grizzly sow and cubs. God help us should they ever gain complete control at every level of our government. (They are funny however, so keeping a few of them around for comic relief is a good idea.) Using news reports I have compiled a Liberalism’s Greatest Hits of the previous 90 days. Here it is:
#5) On 7-12-07 researchers at Oxford university proposed placing a Value Added Tax of 17.5% on unhealthy foods to cut consumer intake and reduce the number of strokes and heart attacks. Studies claimed this tax would save 3200 lives in Britain in each year. Not to be out-liberaled, California responded with…
#4) The Los Angeles City Council is considering a two-year moratorium on new fast-food restaurants in South LA where the obesity rate of 30% is ten points higher than the county average of 20.9%. According to Mark Vallianatos, director of the Center for Food and Justice, this is “bringing health policy and environmental policy together with land-use planning.” This “is smart and it’s the wave of the future.” (Only in the United States do the poor suffer from obesity.)
#3) With liberalism sweeping the country, this fall a Colorado Springs elementary school implemented a “No Tag-Playing” policy. It seemed a child complained that the playing of “tag” was hurting her self-esteem. Here is a news flash to the unwilling tag-players on the playgrounds of America, if you don’t like the game, QUIT RUNNING!!! The game stops the second you refuse to play. The next time the neighbors aren’t watching try playing tag with a fence post. Run up, poke it and yell “tag, you’re it!” Not much of a game is it? That point escaped the administration in Colorado Springs.
#2) With a “not in my hometown” attitude, Hobbton High School in North Carolina imposed a rule prohibiting the wearing of items with any flag, including our stars and stripes. This get-tough-on-patriotism policy was only in effect for one day; Tuesday the 11th. It was rescinded September 12, 2007. Do you get the picture?
#1) Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who has vowed to kill us and wipe Israel off the map, who is developing nuclear weapons to use against us, who denies the existence of the Jewish Holocaust, who is currently funneling weapons to the terrorists killing American GIs in Iraq, who held our embassy officials captive during the Carter years, has been welcomed to speak at that bastion of liberalism, Columbia University in New York. To liberals all conflict is the result of a simple misunderstanding; terrorists will stop if they know we mean them no harm. If we would just listen, build them houses, hospitals, highways, schools and water treatment plants we could all be friends. (I think I hear a group hug coming.)
