I Don't Believe That

This is the time of year where politicians spend resources convincing voters what they believe. After carefully watching the political convention in Denver, I decided to be contrary and to tell you what I don’t believe.
I don’t believe…
…that Americans are the cause of all evil in the world. If we aren’t the greatest country why do millions of the world’s citizens risk all their earthly possessions to immigrate to America? Do you know anyone who tries to sneak into Darfur?
…that having the strongest military in history promotes war. It is always best to negotiate from a position of overwhelming strength. To do the contrary leaves you begging for mercy.
…America could ever print enough money to correct the evils brought by the implementation of socialism. Thinking “I am entitled” to the fruits of someone else’s labor will destroy this great republic that was founded on economic freedom.
…that someone has more because I have less. When I look at people with incomes greater than mine I find they usually work harder, have taken greater risk, or are exceptionally more talented than me. The only exception to this rule would be the trust-funder families like the Kennedys. They are spoiled by family money, they do nothing, and yet they successfully portray themselves as the champions of the poor. I never will understand that.
…socialists sleep well in a country with a well armed citizenry. They blow off questions about Second Amendment rights by claiming they support our hunting heritage and better sportsmen access to public lands. The Second Amendment is not about hunting or access and to imply that is a willful deception. The Second Amendment is about ensuring that a limited, responsible government must always seek the consent of the governed. Without firearms citizens become subjects.
…that you can claim our education system is broken and needs drastic government intervention when a minority, illegitimate son of a single mom earns a law degree from Harvard and the Democrat nomination for President. It would be more correct to sing praises of opportunity in this great country. No change is needed here.
…it is wise to base our national energy policy on inefficient, unreliable and economically unsound alternative energy. It may feel green to watch the wind turbines spin but it is not wind that makes them rotate; it is cash…taxpayer’s cash. Without the redistribution of tax dollars they stop turning.
