What A Ride!

Picture this:  You’re motoring down the interstate, balancing a latte’ between your knees, and gabbing on your cell phone, when you bank around a bend and hit a patch of ice.  Your truck swaps ends three times and when you hit dry pavement you’re traveling in the same direction you were when you started.  So went the past three weeks.

My campaign for the legislature began February 7th and ended November 6th.  The election began November 7th and ended November 28th.  Wow, what a ride!

Surviving an election with three extra votes is not a landslide or a mandate.  It is barely a victory.  But, those three votes were enough to send my one vote to Helena, which now determines the leadership and direction of the Montana House of Representatives. One vote does matter.

Thanks so much to all my outward supporters as well as those who did things behind the scenes.  No doubt this election was decided through conversations on the sidewalks of Laurel and over a cup of coffee across kitchen tables.

Thank you to Emilie for running a strong and clean campaign.  With this negative election cycle, I am thankful the race for HD#58 was based on a debate of political thought rather than personal attacks.  Let’s change the “It’s time for Washington to look more like Montana” campaign slogan to “Its time for Montana to look more like Laurel.”

I am grateful and humbled by the opportunity to serve you in the ’07 legislature.  Please contact me with your questions and concerns at 628-4309 or e-mail krayton@kraytonkerns.org.
