Why Are You Doing That?

Several summers ago I asked my youngest to mow the front lawn by starting in the center and spiraling outward. I figured the resultant mower track would leave an interesting pattern. Tyler responded with a typical ten year-old boy look that could be interpreted as either “you’re nuts,” or “you’re brilliant.” Either way he cut the grass.
Folks driving past the house would stop and ask “why are you doing that?” And that became the question of the afternoon and today’s point. Why are you doing that?
Scientific data of the last six months continues to prove that man caused global warming is a hoax. Over 400 scientists previously listed as supporters of the Al Gore hysteria, have swapped horses and now acknowledge it is all a fraud yet, Mr. Gore hypes onward. Why does he do that? It’s about money, it’s always about money. Al Gore is the founding partner of Generation Investment Management LLC, the London-based company that sells carbon credits. Mr. Gore is a carbon credit bookie.
The United Nations Intergovernmental Policy on Climate Change (UN IPCC) met in Bali Indonesia in early December. They recommended implementing a Global Carbon Tax and the promotion of the global trading of Carbon Credits. Remember the success of the UN “Oil-For-Food” program? It made former UN Secretary General Kofi Anon’s son a very rich man. He was an Oil-For-Food bookie.
There are two reasons this lowly Montana state representative is concerned about the UN Global Carbon Tax and Carbon Credit Trading:
1) Governor Schweitzer created the Climate Change Advisory Committee to find ways to reduce Montana’s carbon footprint. This December, after 18 months of work, the committee approved 54 recommendations. Most were harmless suggestions to increase awareness. (Liberals love “increasing awareness”.) However, intrinsic within the framework of this committee, is the false assumption that our carbon footprint is an item of significance. It isn’t. Carbon dioxide emissions do not cause global warming.
2) Ironically, it was President’s Day, February 19th 2007, when the House Judiciary Committee held a public hearing on HB712, the Sovereignty Protection Act. This bill rejected “the authority of the United Nations over the territory or people of Montana.” The bill intended to “maintain and preserve the state of Montana as a free and independent state as provided in the Declaration of Independence and the Montana Constitution and as preserved in the 9th and 10th amendments to the Constitution of the United States.”
The bill was a no-brainer; it was about advancing our freedom and independence. HB712 died on April 10, 2007. During its 51 day movement through the legislative process the Sovereignty Protection Act garnered not a single democrat vote. Democrat legislators had 118 opportunities to cast even one affirmative vote for freedom but unanimously voted no and indirectly approved “the authority of the United Nations over the territory or people of Montana.” That scares me.
This is my first column of the ’08 campaign season and I predict the direction of our state and nation will boil down to what voters think about points #1 and #2 above. If you are a liberal democrat blinded by the global warming hysteria you are an “in-the-bag” voter and will vote as you always do.
It is the conservative democrat voter that will decide our future. Your party left you in 1963 with the assassination of JFK. If you are true to your conservative principles you must be wary of anyone who would surrender control of Montana and her citizens to the UN. Many of you sacrificed for freedom during World War II yet we flippantly trade that freedom away every day in Helena and Washington. The direction of Montana and the United States is in your hands. Vote for freedom.
